  • CHOCOLAT SUCHARD print. A 1950 advertisement combining chocolate and skiing for the famous confectionery brand started by Philippe Suchard in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, in 1826.

Suchard was obsessed with chocolate from the age of 12 and he was still in his 20s when he designed a new mixing machine that blended sugar and cocoa powder more efficiently than any others. Chocolate was a luxury and sales growth was slow until 1842 when the King of Prussia made a significant purchase of chocolate and, with this royal stamp of approval, the factory took off. By the end of the 19th century Suchard had become the largest producer of Swiss Chocolate.

Best known today for its drinking chocolate and chocolate bars, such as the famous Milka range launched into the Swiss market in 1901, the Suchard brand is now owned by the Mondelez group and production has been moved to the Toblerone factory in Bern.

    Framed Prints:
We supply professionally framed prints ready to hang with a choice of flat black, white or natural oak frames 30mm in width. We choose to use Shinkolite 3mm cast acrylic in our frames - it is lightweight, virtually unbreakable, has greater optical clarity than glass and provides your print with long term protection from harmful UV rays greatly reducing the risk of fading.

    Canvas Material:
Our canvas is 400gsm artist quality, real polyester/cotton canvas with a 2:1 weave structure for highest print quality results. The water-resistant coating allows a wide colour gamut and extremely high colour densities. The canvas can be framed or stretched by your local framer.

    Our Story:
Our images are professionally scanned and retouched from original sources in our collection of vintage journals, magazines, posters, newspapers and other ephemera from the 1850s to the 1970s.

Our production and design staff are experts in image restoration and have many years' experience in the design and print industry.
