Double-sided French Champagne riddling rack or 'pupitres' from the Champagne district. These racks are used in the vast underground Champagne growers cellars to store the bottles during the maturation process as the bottles must be turned a quarter-turn every few days.
Today these racks make a great display piece or can be used for actual wine storage (Champagne or standard wine bottles) and this free-standing A-frame rack has room for 10 dozen bottles.
Made from solid oak planks, these racks are industrial strength and very heavy. Some customers have even wall-mounted these, making spectacular displays of their wine collections.
The rack shown here is an original Veuve Clicquot with stamp top left corner. It has some deterioration in the top of one of the panels but is still sturdy. It has been priced accordingly.This piece is currently on show in our retail store:
