A typically colourful 1940s advertisement for the popular French aperitif Byrrh.
Created in 1866, Byrrh was initially marketed as a health tonic and sold in pharmacies. The drink went out of fashion around the time of the Second World War and finally, in 1977, the family business was acquired by aperitif giant Pernod-Ricard who continue its manufacture and marketing.
